Sports Psychology

Dr. O'Riordan became involved in athletics at about age twelve. His experience in Gaelic games sponsored by the Cumann Lútcleas Gael (Gaelic Athletic Association), long-distance running organized by the Bord Lútcleas na hÉireann (Irish Athletic Board) and cycling Rás Tialteann (cycling races) game him a value in sports psychology. He teaches people the strength of visualization, self-talk, reducing anxiety, increasing motivation, and one's personal needs.

In central and eastern Europe and in many countries in Asia sports psychology has been a part of the sports for a long time. The benefits of accepting a sports-psychology is becoming more popular with athletics, coaches, managers and owners of sport companies. The national and international organizations of sports psychology are growing such as the Association for the Advancement of Applied Sports Psychology, and the Division 47 in the American Psychological Association.
